Greyhound and Lurcher fund
We love Greyhounds and Lurchers
Greyhounds and Lurchers are beautiful, gentle dogs who love nothing more than plenty of cuddles and a comfy duvet to snooze on. Well deserved is their affectionate nickname of "40 mile an hour couch potatoes" as contrary to common perception two 20 - 30 minute walks a day is ample for their exercise requirement.
Sadly some of these wonderful pets have had a far from happy start in life, often having been used for racing or hunting, then when their "usefulness" is over by the age of just 4 years old many are left unwanted, abandoned or killed.
The lucky ones eventually reach the safe haven of a Rescue Centre before finding their forever homes. Thes Rescue Centres play and invaluable role by providing the care needed to bring the dogs back to full health, mend broken bones, restore broken spirits and build broken trust.
Making a Difference
We are proud to support the work of the many Rescue Centres across the country and we know, pet lovers and owners, what a massive positive contribution they make to the lives of thousands of pets, and ultimately their new owners. This need is particularly great for Greyhounds and Lurchers. That is why we want to help in the best way we know how - through our nutritious food.
Forever Promise - make a purchase, make a difference
We guarantee that 20p from every 15kg sack of Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher sold, or 5p from every 2.5kg bag of Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher sold will be donated to our nominated greyhound and lurcher rescues.
This is our Forever Promise of ongoing support for these Rescue Centres. This is not just a PR campaign but long term sustainable support. So the more you buy, the more you can make a difference!
Messages of Support
"I am delighted with what Burgess has offered to do to help Tia. It costs us around £200,000 a year to keep the centre open and we have to raise all of that ourselves through donations. The Forever Promise will make a big difference - it will help pay for food, vets bills, heating, anything needed to look after the dogs until we can find them new homes. The product is great - Greyhounds and Lurchers tend to attract passionate devotion from their owners, so a lot of people will be delighted there is now a food available made especially for their pets. I hope it takes off - it will make things easier here if it does."
Debra Rothery, from Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue in West Yorkshire. We would like to thank Tia for all their hard work and dedication towards making a real difference to the lives of thousands of Greyhounds and Lurchers, and also for their support of Burgess with our new Greyhound and Lurcher food (and for the loan of the beautiful Fletch and Lenny who feature on the product pack!). "The welfare of Greyhounds and Lurchers is an issue close to my heart and I think everyone involved in the Forever Promise scheme deserves a lot of credit. Greyhounds and Lurchers are wonderful dogs and make fantastic pets, which is why it is so sad that so many are left without caring homes. I would encourage anyone looking for a pet dog to consider giving a rescue greyhound or lurcher a good home, and I would urge all dog lovers to support rescue charities through schemes like the Forever Promise."

"Burgess' Forever Promise will make a real difference to the lives of rescue greyhounds by providing much needed funds to the centres that work so hard to re-home these loving animals. I hope the scheme will also help to raise awareness of their plight among the wider pet-owning public, and encourage more animal-lovers to consider choosing a rescue greyhound or lurcher as a pet."
Maureen Purvis from the Alliance of Independent Greyhound Rescue
"Thank you so much for the Greyhound and Lurcher biscuits. Feather thought they were lovely and ate them up like mad and so did William, his mongrel friend, so you'd better put 'Mongrel, Greyhound and Lurcher' on them."
