PAUL MILEY

Hi I'm Paul, the Managing Director of Burgess Pet Care, the family-run company of pet lovers.

What do MDs do? Well that's the unanswered question in most companies!

At Burgess we never forget that pets are equal family members - so I ensure we run a business that treats the production of our petfoods as seriously as human diets. I make sure that there are no compromises on our locally sourced ingredients, food factory standards and our independently audited quality controls.

My pets complete my family, I wouldn't be without our family pets, and half the population of Britain agrees! To be able to run a company full of people equally as passionate about pets as me is a joy and, judging by our consumers comments, there are plenty of contented furry pets out there enjoying their Burgess diets.

I have lots of pets at home, two dogs and four cats. Sassie is the diva of the family, and as a Harlequin Great Dane, she perhaps warrents the role. Reef, the Blue Great Dane is so relaxed he is literally horizontal most of the time (snoozing). These two often come for a visit to the offices, and they love being part of the Burgess family.

Our feline family are equally diverse. Geordie is our hunter, keeping field mice out of our garage, and the lawn free of moles. Dosh is easing into retirement having given up on tom-cat activities; he now contents with sleeping almost as much as Reef! Izzy is our real old girl, generally wary of the others, but is always first to the food bowl. And lastly Fluffy, officially 'my cat' in the family pecking order, she is friendly with anything that moves, and her classic pose is upside down, legs in the air, being groomed by a dog.

EMMA SHEPARD BRADSHAW

Hi, I'm Emma and I work in consumer care. A major part of my working day is talking to Burgess' consumers, answering queries and listening to feedback, as well as administering our rescue scheme and sponsorships.

My job helps Burgess produce great pet food by listening to feedback on all of our products, so we can always strive to improve them.

I love working for Burgess because I speak to some great consumers and help them to look after their pet's welfare in the very best way.

My Pets are called Mia - Border collie, Jasmine - Border collie, Rigsby - Rabbit, Minstrel - Rabbit. I also have several rescue hens (Betty, Marge, Daphne, Speedy, Tricky, Blondie, Zig Zag and Ginger). My pets make me smile all the time, just watching them you can tell what they are thinking; the dog's need loads of exercise which keeps me fit!

JANINE ROSE

Hi, I'm Janine, and I am the Logistics Manager here at Burgess Pet Care.

I'm responsible for Customer Care, the warehousing and our national / international distribution. Basically, I ensure we deliver what the customer wants and when in the right quantity.

Once a project is complete and the new range is manufactured and ready to dispatch it is my responsibility to ensure we meet the supply demands from our varied customer base, a lot of organising!

I've worked for Burgess for 13 years! The people and the culture are what keep me here but also because I'm passionate about our furry little friends. I have seen this business grow from strength to strength and we have some of the most innovative products on the market.

I have a Boxer dog called Harvey who will be 3 on July 21st... he's still very bouncy! I love Boxer dogs and had my first when I was 6 and fell in love with the breed. He's quite bonkers but has such a lovely nature which is why I love him so much.

MALCOLM KILBY

Hi, My name is Malcolm, and I am the IT Manager.

I look after the companies IT infrastructure, which comprises of our Networks, Servers, PC's and the software that we use.

Whilst not directly involved in the production of the Burgess product, I provide the systems and support to help others throughout the business do their work, from maintaining the software that runs the factory machines that make our pet food, to running th servers that everyone at Burgess Pet Care communicates and works on.

I love working here due to the people, everyone is so friendly, and are always happy to help me.

I have 2 Capheaton Terriers named Henry and Florrie. The breed name comes from the area in Northumberland where they were initially bred. They are very special to me, and they are classed as members of the family; they make me smile when they get up to their naughty antics (which is most of the time!)

NICKI SMITH

Hi, I'm Nicki, and I am the Quality manager here at Burgess Pet Care.

I ensure that the quality of our pet food is always first-rate, by checking samples daily, and reviewing our recipes.

I love working with a great team and a company that is passionate about pets, it is also great to have my sister Charlotte working with me, making Burgess a true family company.

We have lots of pets at home. Moo is one of our dogs who my sister named, as he looked like a cow when he was a puppy, and his name stuck! Our terrier Ralph can be naughty, but he was on his best behaviour when he spent the day with us at Crufts on the Burgess stand!

We have a horse called Lyric, who is a Grey, and therefore a nightmare to keep clean as she needs a full bath if we go anywhere, and he gets dirty again very quickly.

SAM FRASER

Hi, I'm Sam and I work in accounts at the Victory Mill office here at Burgess Pet Care.

My job helps Burgess produce great pet food by working as part of our team, by recording our business' performance to monitor our progress to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I love working for Burgess Pet Care, it's a great place with brilliant people, everyone is very kind and if you need any help at all there is always someone here that is willing.

I have two cats, Bas and Lynx. I love them both to bits; I got Bas as a get well soon present and loved the present and him. When I got Lynx she was living on a friend's farm, and she came running to me, I just fell in love with her! They make me smile because they come and cuddle me when i'm sad, they come running when they hear me coming home, and at night they are always asleep on my bed when I get in, there to keep me company.

SUZANNE HOWE

Hi, my name is Suzanne and I work in consumer care here at Burgess Pet Care.

I ensure that we try to solve all consumer queries and to go the extra mile for them so they go away feeling that their query and their pet is just as important to us as it is to them.

By listening to all the feedback from our customers, we aim to find out what they want for their pets and to feed this back to the varying departments.

Burgess has a professionally friendly feel and this, combined with the desire to be ethical and do the best for all pets, makes it an enjoyable company to work for.

I love pets, and have a dog of my own, Briar. Briar is a black working Cocker Spaniel who is wonderfully affectionate, and has a great zest for life. When he wants to go off and do his own thing, he will!

 CHARLOTTE SMITH

Hi I'm Charlotte and I'm the planning manager here at Burgess Pet Care.

I ensure that the factory is scheduled in a manner that allows efficient running, maximises product availability, and with the minimum stock levels. I also make sure that all of our raw materials are in place to make our pet food.

It is great working on a fantastic team here at Burgess, and I love our passion for food and pets, 'standing up for the little ones!'

I have two dogs, Risky and Busy. Risky is a terrier, and is called that as our neighbour bought her without her husband's consent, and if he didn't let her keep her I would have had her. It was a 'risk' she was taking! Busy is a Jack Russell. She was born without a tail, just like her dad! Her name suits her, she never stops being a 'busy body!'

Like Nicki, I have a horse, Scottie. Scottie is far too clever for a horse! She is always very suspicious and can open doors! She is very fast and loves to jump.

NAOMI CHATTERLEY

Hi, I'm Naomi and I am the Direct Marketing Manager here at Burgess Pet Care.

I am responsible for being in touch with our consumers, through the shows we attend, our website, sponsorships, the descue centres and many more. This relationship is essential in helping us develop great products for all of the pet lovers out there.

I can be found at one of many agility shows we sponsor talking about all the needs that their dogs have, so they can be happy, healthy and full of energy for the competition (and of course, I spend time cuddling the dogs, a big perk!)

I love working with the vets, its great creating health guides and gathering all the information I can to pass on to the customer so we can teach as many people as possible about how to best look after their pets.

I love working at Burgess, it means I'm always around beautiful fluffy pets, and it's great working with a team of people who are as passionate about them as I am.

I have quite a few animals and I love them all to bits!

My dog Gemma actually belongs to my parents, but me and Gemma are still really close, and I love spending time with her on long beach walks, and for some reason it is always my turn when it is bath time...

I have a beautiful black and white cat called Buffy, who I saved as a kitten. She has grown into the happiest cat, and follows me everywhere when she is not busy chasing bugs!

I also have two Chinchillas, Gizmo and Molly. Molly is the clever, gentle one of the two, and loves affection, Gizmo is the naughty one who thinks everything is food, but I love them both equally, even if Gizmo thinks my fingers are tasty!

LORRAINE MORLEY

Hi, my name is Lorraine and I work as a national Sales Executive here at Burgess Pet Care.

I have worked here for nearly 6 years, and it is my job to look after wholesalers, veterinary practices and pet stores that we work with.

My role helps Burgess create such great foods as I am at the front of the business, hearing what people want for their pets. Being a pet owner myself, I want the best available products at the best price. I love working for Burgess as everyday I have a smile on my face, I am in an industry that I love and I am trying to help educate owners into the correct feeding methods that will give them a happier and healthier pet.

I have always had a great love of animals and have had many pets throughout my life. I have a black Labrador called Charlie; he is the most loving animal I have ever known and his tail never stops wagging! He always seems to end up on his back wanting his tummy rubbed. I also have a cat called Lucy. We bought a house and the owner left her for us! She makes me giggle as she always jumps up onto the kitchen table waiting for her chin to be tickled. I also have two rabbit called Roger and Roxy; they live together and absolutely love being on the lawn, munching on fresh grass. We also have guinea pigs, Speedy, Lightning McQueen and Lady; they were all named by my eldest son! They are always out on the lawn too, as they love to run about, and we love listening to them chatting to one another.
