Supadog Agility at the East of England Show

Friday 19th June 2009 until Sunday 21st June 2009

Burgess Supadog was proud to sponsor RVA Agility at the East of England show for the third year in a row. The Supadog Team supported the event by selling our food at some great prices at the trade stand. The Burgess Supadog Creche was also on hand to offer furry visitors of the canine kind somewhere to rest in peace and quiet while their families went off to see the attractions of the show, which included an amazing food hall, show jumping and stunning farm animals.

Winner of the large breed Supadog Agility Stakes was Paddy Power (pet name Paddy) a working sheep dog aged five and a half. Owner and handler Rita Hutchins said " I rehomed Paddy when he was one year old as his owners couldn't cope with him. He was run over and trapped under a car just before I had him and he has a scar from his hip to his toes where the exhaust burnt his skin off. He also has a rare form of diabetes that can cause him to have hypoglycemic attacks if he gets too hot or stressed. Additionally he ruptured his tendon at the back of his wrist joint two years ago and it took 10 months to get him competing again". Against all odds Paddy's sheer love of agility and determination to be able to take part again saw him become the winner of the large breed Supadog Agility Stakes this year. " We only started to get clear rounds again a few weeks ago" says Rita " so winning the Burgess Supadog Agility Stakes was a huge achievement. I am looking forward to the Supadog Agility Finals in October and hope Paddy stays fit and sound for them".

The event was completed by a surprise visit to the Supadog Burgess Stand from Holly Wood star David Hasslehoff who was filming at the show for a documentary he is making for Living TV about England.

David had never heard of dog agility and was fascinated to learn all about it. As a dog lover and owner of over 13 dogs himself  David was particularly impressed to hear that Paul Miley (Burgess Pet Care MD) is currently training his Great Dane Sassy to become an agility expert too.
