Small animals in cages can suffer in the heat along with the rest of us!

Make sure cages are placed away from windows and kept in a cool place. If small animals are kept out of doors make sure they are somewhere that is contstantly in the shade.

A good tip to keep them extra cool is to take an empty plastic drinks bottle and fill 2/3 of it with water making sure the lid is fitted tightly. Place the bottle in your freezer and when frozen, place it in your small pet’s hutch or run - they will love cuddling up to it to cool themselves down.
