Burgess to appear at Discover Dogs 2007
Top pet food producer Burgess is continuing to raise its profile among dog owners, by taking a leading presence at two major canine events this Autumn. The Yorkshire-based company sponsored the dog agility show at Countryside Live, a celebration of all things rural that took place at Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire showground at the end of October, attracting around 11,000 visitors. And later this month, Burgess will take a stand at Discover Dogs, the popular Kennel Club event designed to help dog-lovers learn all about different breeds, while enjoying agility and heelwork-to-music displays. More than 26,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, held over the weekend of 10 and 11 November at London’s Earl’s Court. “Discover Dogs will provide a great platform for us to engage with a broad consumer base through sampling and selling our popular Supadog and Supadog Wellbeing ranges,” explained Christine Neasham, head of marketing at Burgess. “Having a presence at both events will help us reach a large and varied audience,” she said. “We promoted Supadog at Countryside Live, as the Active variant is ideal for agility and working dogs. Discover Dogs is very much a fun family day out that will appeal to a wider audience of city-dwellers and country-lovers, so provides an opportunity to promote Supadog Wellbeing, our premium brand, alongside Supadog.” The sponsorship of Countryside Live comprised branding around the event and product sampling. At Discover Dogs, Burgess has arranged for two leading heelwork-to-music experts to carry out demonstrations and displays with their dogs at the stand. Not only will this help to drive footfall, it will also reinforce the link between good nutrition and good behaviour. Christine continued: “Many leading nutritionists believe that if a dog’s diet contains lots of chemicals and artificial ingredients, this can result in the dog becoming hyper-active, and therefore harder to train and control. Supadog Wellbeing is perfect for obedience training as it contains natural ingredients, with no artificial flavourings or colours. “The heelwork-to-music events we have planned at Discover Dogs will also help attract passers-by to the stand. They’ll then have the opportunity to sample our products and we’re confident that once their dogs have tried them, they’ll be converted. After all, we know from consumer research that 90 per cent of dog owners who try Supadog Wellbeing would recommend it.*” *Responses from 100 subscribers of Dogs Today, after trying a sample of Supadog Wellbeing Kind & Sensitive.
