Animal Concern Companion and Fun Dog Show – Saturday 27th October 2012 – Thank you!
Burgess Pet Care were delighted to offer our help (with sponsorship, samples and prizes) when we heard about the Companion and Fun Show, hosted by Animal Concern Cumbria West and held on 27th October 2012. The show was a huge success! Here is an email we received from the show’s organiser, Gill Brinicombe, following the event:
Please can all of us at Animal Concern say a massive “Thank You” for the amazing support, help and sponsorship we received for our Companion and Fun Show on 27th October 2012. This was the first attempt at a show of this size and after an initial false start (had to reschedule from September due to the weather) it got off the ground and was a total success. We were supported by three local dog training clubs, Wigton, West Lakeland and Purple Paws, who donated the use of field equipment and provided excellend judges, stewards and Show Secretary help on the day.
Over 100 dogs entered in the 30 main classes by handlers of all ages, and nearly 40 photos were entered in the 4 class photo competition which was a brilliant turnout. The weather was nearly perfect; dry and sunny if just a little cold, and the venue was superb – hardstanding car parking beside a lovely large grassed area for the rings. Lots of lovely dogs and superb competitors enjoyed the day and, thanks to the judges and stewards who gave up their day, some dreams were realised for the winners. Full photos were taken and can be seen on the Animal Concern website: http://www.animalconcernwest.co.uk/#/2012-events-4/4570381608
On the day nearly £1000 was raised - after expenses there will be around £750 clear which goes directly to animals in our care and waiting to come in – please give yourselves a pat on the back for being part of this and hopefully you will consider helping us again next year as we hope to make this an annual event.
Again, without you all we could not have held this event with anything near the success we achieved, and we also raised the profile of dogs in our care, raised general awareness of enjoying pets to the full, and maybe even got a home or two on the way – some of our care animals have been seen by potential new owners so fingers crossed something good comes of this. Hopefully you also will benefit from new customers in the future from this as well.
This has made all the hard work by all the AC volunteers and helpers well worth it, both on the day and during the run up. Thank you to you too
